The windshield of a motorcycle is a piece of plastic or safety glass attached to the front. The purpose of motorcycle windshields is to protect riders from flying debris and insects, and from the wind. Motorcycle windshields, even the shorter sport bike windshields, are designed to contribute to the aerodynamics of motorcycles, directing air flow over or around the head and body. Motorcycle windshields are often referred to as windscreens, especially by British English speakers. Some motorcycle-part catalogs and manufacturers refer to the shorter, sport-bike windshields as windscreens, to differentiate them from the taller cruiser windshields. A list of motorcycle windshield manufacturers: National Cycle, Puig, Slip Streamer, Sportech, Zero Gravity, Hotbodies Racing, and Harris Performance.
