Shoei is a Japanese brand of premium motorcycle helmets, often compared with other high-end brands like Arai. Shoei Co., Ltd started as a manufacturer of helmets for the construction industry in 1954, and in 1960 began producing racing helmets. The company still makes racing helmets and sponsors a number of speedway and off-road professional racers. Shoei created the first carbon fiber & Kevlar helmet, made the first dual-liner ventilation system and the first coverless shield. Shoei helmets grew in popularity when in 1965 Honda Motor Co. adopted Shoei's helmets. Shoe Co., Ltd is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
